Splashpads for Active, Curriculum-Linked Water Play

Zero-depth water play gives a school the upside of a pool — gross-motor, sensory and outdoor-science learning — without the depth risk, the lifeguards or the compliance load.

We zone the pad by age band, design the surfacing to fall-height standards, and document the risk-benefit rationale your inspection team needs.

Key enhancements

What we deliver for school splashpads.

Zero-depth, no lifeguard

Flush jets and ground geysers — water play with no standing water, and far lower risk and supervision load than any pool.

Age-banded zoning

Gentle sprays and tactile panels for EYFS toddlers; geysers, tipping buckets and challenge features for primary — clearly zoned and signed.

Sensory and EYFS-aligned

Cause-and-effect panels and varied spray textures support sensory regulation and early-years exploration — water as a learning material.

Doubles as outdoor science

Flow, pressure and cause-and-effect features become a living resource for fluids, forces and the water cycle.

Safety-engineered surfacing

Non-slip, EN 1177 fall-height-rated surfacing with drainage designed in, and the risk-benefit assessment documented for inspection.

Water-wise to run

Closed-loop recirculation and UV keep running costs and water use low — sustainability the school can put in its newsletter.

Certified surfacing by Polysoft

The pad is poured in seamless Polysoft wet-pour: impact zones third-party certified to EN 1177, ASTM F1292 and AS/NZS 4422 fall-height standards, an anti-slip splash zone, and a flush, joint-free finish that rolls smoothly for wheelchairs and walkers — so SEND learners take part too.

Education FAQ

Common questions for this scope.

  • How is a splashpad safer than a school pool?

It is zero-depth — no body of standing water to drown in — which removes the pool depth risk and the heavy lifeguard requirement.

  • Which age bands can share one pad?

We zone gentle EYFS features apart from higher-energy primary features, with clear signage and sight-lines, so one pad can serve the whole school by timetable.

  • Does it work in the monsoon?

It is outdoor water play already; with good drainage and surfacing it is usable across most of the academic year, and the plant winterises simply out of season.

  • How does the surfacing meet safety and accessibility standards?

We pour Polysoft wet-pour rubber: impact areas are independently certified to EN 1177:2005 (and ASTM F1292-13 / AS-NZS 4422:2016) for critical fall height, the splash zone is anti-slip wet and dry, and the surface drains fast and stays cooler underfoot. Because it cures seamless and flush, there are no trip joints — wheelchairs and walkers cross it easily, keeping the pad inclusive for SEND learners.
